I am honestly shocked MORE WGRD players do not come forward & encourage purchase of Warno. I have been genuinely excited to see what new units or balancing they have added - it is a great project to be a fan to watch.
Perhaps, once "Finished" you might enjoy it more later. If you are expecting an out-the-box AAA title in early development, then I would discourage you from purchasing Warno. Here is a link for their initial post and can confirm the two units mentioned have launched: They are adding new units, balancing, and adding entire battle groups per the roadmap around every 2 weeks. Additionally, I imagine the QOL improvements will be compatible with WGRD once finished for Warno. Airplanes that hunt, Artillery that does Counter-Artillery, and units that are smarter/getting smarter than the WGRD contemporaries. The Quality of life improvements is awesome. I would encourage you to play WARNO if you have Top of spec PC. I am playing both - WGRD since December Steam Sale & Warno since launch. No base building, reinforcement mechanic to get new units Maintain a proper mix of units and use them together (combined arms) You need to recon well, there is no fog of war visualisation What makes them different from most RTSes: They are still Eugen combined arms strategies. I think people focus too much on the differences. planes have travel time, tanks have smoke grenade launchers, some units that are rather weak in WRD are strong and vice versa). I think the skills and strategies are transferrable, but not unit knowledge - the same units behave differently (i.e. Get W:RD (you can wait for the DLCs to go on sale while you learn it) and wait till Warno improves. If you are feeling generous buy it and support an independent game studio but please don't have the expectations of a finished game. The early access if for fans who have already played the previous games and want to influence the development of / help fund the new one. Ten, even.Warno is in early access, while Wargame has a lot of polish + DLC content. I’ll continue my candlelight vigil for a Cold War South African nation deck, but until then, we gotta play with more bullets. It’s also the map with the highest density of fields and gameplay elements ever made, leaving ample room for ambushes and sneak tactics. Setting a few records for the Wargame: Red Dragon franchise, Russian Roulette features the largest playable area ever designed for the game, allowing large-scale maneuvers. Secure the flanks while moving towards the center to take hold of the command zones, or choose to regroup, thus leaving easy points & reinforcement zones to the enemy.
With six twin deployment zones available at the edges of the map, Russian Roulette alternates and provides each side with three, allowing them to directly flank one another right from the beginning. The Russian Roulette map features an innovative circular level design that has armies intertwined at the start, rather than facing each other.

The free Russian Roulette update brings a fresh canvas to the series’ meat-grinder 10v10 mode, swapping out the attrition of pitched line battles for an improbable but intriguing circular clash, where separated force must rasp their way to rendezvous if they hope to last out the encounter. For my hard currency, I can’t think of a more enjoyable real-time tactics title, and it sits, stinking of diesel and MLRS propellant, atop the pile of recent strategy gems.
Though deploying in 2014, the game has now received no less than six expansions and nation packs, four gratis and two paid. Eugen Systems continue to deliver the goods for Wargame: Red Dragon, their final entry in the esteemed operational-level real-time tactical series.
